An 8 mile linear walk from Normans Bay rail station to West St Leonards rail station in East Sussex, forming the 10th stretch of the Sussex Hospices Trail. You will walk through quiet countryside, around a golf course and along the bustling promenade of Bexhill taking in some fantastic views of the coast.
The route is largely flat aside from a short climb up ‘Galley Hill’ and although the majority of it is on tarmac the first section is through fields which can get muddy. These fields may be holding livestock so take particular care with dogs. There are also some very tight v-shaped stiles to squeeze over so those with large dogs may struggle. Several opportunities for facilities and refreshments exist on the route. Allow 4 hours.
Accessing the Trail
There are several ways to follow the Trail!
You can download and print the PDF leaflet for your walk at the top of this page. These include turn-by-turn directions, photos and a simplified map. For extra safety, we recommend that you carry an Ordnance Survey map of the area too.
On an app
If you already have the iFootpath App and have stayed logged in, then you can continue to download the walks until September 1st 2019. However, it will no longer be updated and may cease working after that.
However there is now a new home for the walks on the AllTrails App so we strongly recommend that even if you have iFootpath you also get the free version of the AllTrails App (where the walks are already downloaded and where the directions are called Waypoints). This version of AllTrails will work as long as there is an internet (3G/4G) signal.
Note: within the AllTrails App you have the option to pay a subscription to upgrade to AllTrails Pro. This gives you the ability to follow the guides without using any internet data in areas where there is no 3G/4G coverage.
On a GPS device
If you have a Garmin or another GPS-based App e.g. the Ordnance Survey App, you can download the GPX File for your chosen walk from our website to use on these devices. (Please note that the GPX Files are for personal use only and must not be published on any other platform)
